I have now stayed at multiple hotels in this price range and they by far have the most comfortable beds and pillows. The grass common area didn’t look like somewhere I’d want to be after dark and I wonder how many people let their dogs pee there. Didn’t use the pool, but noticed it was jam packed with kids for those that care about that. Additionally, there’s construction and due to the lack of AC, you hear a lot of road noise from open windows. There were a lot of very noisy young people as we were next to some sort of a sports team and the kids were running and yelling. I see some reviews said the rooms were dingy but I think the bright colors and humorous retro decor actually liven up what would otherwise be a standard budget hotel. It was nice when we booked under the medical rate that they ensured my husband could do stairs (no elevator) and they’re one of the few hotels that still provide a medical rate discount for cancer patients even during the peak season. Luckily we had a king room which has a balcony, I couldn’t even imagine being in one of the other rooms that only has a tiny window that opens. Granted, they don’t claim to have AC but we never thought to check since some of the oldest and cheapest hotels in Victoria have AC. We were shocked to arrive to a darkened room with fans. I would Definately stay again in the winter but the lack of air conditioning is a complete deal breaker. Stayed at Hotel zed Victoria while my spouse was getting cancer treatment. Over all it’s cool, clean and comfortable-really good value! I would love to try dinner next time.Īll the staff were friendly from housekeeping to front desk to the restaurant. The breakfast was great and they were very accommodating of my child’s requests. Towels are provided in the room and there are towels at the pool but you may want to cover up for the mad dash there and back to your room. My child loved the pool and was enamoured with the slide although they were too short to ride it (I was more than ok with this), and the sauna and hot tub were a added bonus for me.Ĭome prepared with flip-flops and a robe or beach towel especially if you are staying here in colder months as access to the pool is outside through the parking lot. It’s kitschy and cool with lots of little extra amenities, like bikes, long boards and helmets, games and more. I was excited about how clean and we’ll-maintained it is considering the age of the property. My child was super excited about the colours when we first pulled in. I was very impressed with the value of this hotel. ![]() We stayed here a few times for work, and your bosses probably will be pleased that you're not breaking the bank. While not as exciting as it may initially seem, overall, it’s a safe, reliable choice. Thankfully, this property does tick all the basics: cleanliness, competent housekeeping, helpful and friendly staff, adequate room temperature control, noise levels under control (after 9.00pm – stay far, far away from the noisy, reverberant pool area), comfortable bed, good water pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, adequate toilet pressure, sufficient electrical outlets to charge your piles of modern junk, and workable wi-fi. To cheer things up, Hotel Zed comes along as a refreshed vintage motel in bright, happy colours, and a cheeky attitude, which include minimal but effective mid-century furnishings. However, the neighbourhood is not the most salubrious part of town, and sketchy shenanigans, while not threatening, keep the proceedings somewhat interesting. It’s located on a busy highway strip just on the outskirts of the city centre, and very convenient in terms of providing parking, access to BC Transit bus routes into the centre, and access to fast food, available at the KFC adjacent to the property and at the suburban shopping mall across the street. It may feel slightly underwhelming, but you are saving a bit by staying here. Relatively speaking, this establishment offers a competitive product.
